Aston Martin Reveals It's Future To The World

Aston Martin has been to the brink of bankruptcy more than a few times in its 100-year history. Andy Palmer, the automaker's new chief executive, wants to get the car maker back on solid ground for good.

A vital piece of the puzzle is the company's deal with Germany's Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz and Smart, which owns a small stake in Aston. Daimler is developing engines and electronics for the legendary sports car
maker.

That frees up Aston Martin to focus on other things, like the smokin' hot designs it unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show .

The Aston Martin Vulcan is powered by a 7-liter V12 engine designed to produce something over 800 horsepower. It's engineered for the track, not the street and only 24 will be built, selling for we'll over $2 million each.

The Vulcan's body is made entirely from carbon fiber. The design is extreme but according to Aston Martin, it contains elements that will appear in more mainstream Aston Martin cars coming in the future. Of course, it's hard for a car company to survive by selling only expensive sports cars. Aston needs to branch out, Palmer admitted. That was the point of Aston Martin's other major unveiling in Geneva, a crossover concept vehicle called the DBX.

The DBX is a two-door machine with a coupe shape that barely looks like a crossover SUV at all. In fact, it looks almost like a slightly inflated sports car. In case you haven't noticed, crossover SUVs are the automotive industry's current addiction. And for good reason. The public's appetite for them is insatiable no matter the size, no matter the price.

Not only is Aston working on one, but so is Bentley, Rolls-Royce , Lamborghini and Maserati . The concept version of the DBX also happens to be an all-electric plug-in vehicle. Photos - Cool cars from the Geneva Motor Show That's remarkable since rumbling, chest-rattling engine sound is crucial to the Aston Martin experience, Palmer said. But a model line-up full of burbling V12s and V8s won't meet new emissions requirements in Europe. So Aston may make
emission-free all-electric vehicles in order to average things out.

Also in Geneva, Aston Martin displayed a four-hour Lagonda sedan that the company hopes will broaden out the appeal of its brand. The Laguna isn't available in the U.S. yet, but it will be at some point. Even though Aston Martin plans to sell crossover SUVs and full-sized sedans, it's the sport cars that will always define its brand, Palmer insisted.

“So you that clown that’s been poppin’ off on Twitter? Been waiting on you to show up and let me let you know, I’m ready,” said Snoop before introducing Hulk Hogan.

Snoop dragged Axel out of the ring by his neck and tore off his own clothes to reveal a Hulkamania tank top. “I’m a big kid right now,” said Snoop backstage. “I’m having the time of my life. I’m with my favorite wrestler, the Hulkster.”

Angelina Jolie's Have Ovaries Removed

Angelina Jolie has had her ovaries and fallopian tunes removed as a preventative measure to avoid ovarian cancer after tests suggested she could have early signs of the disease.

The 39-year-old underwent a preventative procedure a week ago after tests she undergoes every year after learning she has a 50 percent risk of suffering from ovarian cancer showed markers she could be in the early stages of the disease.

Angelina - whose mother, grandmother and aunt died of cancer - said: ''Last week, I had the procedure: a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. There was a small benign tumor on one ovary, but no signs of cancer in any of the tissues.''

Lawyer The operation comes two years after the 'Maleficent' star underwent a double mastectomy having discovered she carried a gene which meant she had an 87 percent risk of developing breast cancer and a 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer.

Following her most recent surgery, the 'Unbroken' director has been taking hormone replacements but will never be able to have more children with husband Brad Pitt, who she wed last year.

She continued: ''Regardless of the hormone replacements I'm taking, I am now in menopause. I will not be able to have any more children, and I expect some physical changes. But I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared.''

However, Angelina admitted she decided to undergo the procedure for the sake of her children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 11 and Zahara 10, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

In an article in the New York Times newspaper titled 'Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary of a Surgery', she wrote: ''It is a less complex surgery than the mastectomy, but its effects are more severe. It puts a woman into forced menopause. ''It is not possible to remove all risk, and the fact is I remain prone to cancer. I will look for natural ways to strengthen my immune system. I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family. I know my children will never have to say, 'Mom died of ovarian cancer.'''

A Plane Carrying 142 Passengers Has Crashed In France

A plane carrying 142 passengers has crashed in France; there are likely no survivors. An Airbus 320 flying from Barcelona, Spain, to Düsseldorf, Germany, has crashed in southern France, it is reported. The Germanwings flight was carrying 142 passengers and six crew members, according to AFP, and crashed in the southern French alps.

"The plane crashed just 2 kilometers from here, high on a mountain," an eye witness said. "There was loud noise and then suddenly nothing. At first I thought it came from fighter jets that often hold drills in the area."

The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, but French officials said in statements that there were unlikely to be any survivors.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls told reporters: "We of course don't know the reasons for the crash. We obviously fear that the 142 to 150 passengers and crew died today, given the conditions of this crash."

French President Francois Holland echoed this statement, saying "the conditions of the accident suggests that there would be no survivors." The plane reportedly sent a distress signal at about 10:47 a.m. local time. It took off from Barcelona at 10:01 a.m. and disappeared from radar screens at about 11:15 a.m., confirmed a reports .

The plane dropped to a cruising altitude of just 5,000 feet from 38,000 feet, The New York Times reports . Weather conditions were reportedly good at the time of the crash. Dozens of firefighters and police officers headed to the crash site, according to the French newspaper Le Monde.

Bodies from the crash are being taken to an emergency morgue that has been set up in a nearby gym, according to a reporter as well.

Health Risks Of Sugar Are Worse Than Tobacco

Sugar consumption is contributing to over 35 million deaths worldwide every year and causes diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Sugar is not just ‘empty calories’ (calories without any nutritional value) because in the amounts that are taken daily are three times more than the average consumption that was 50 years ago. Sugar is toxic, it does not do any good to the blood pressure, damages the liver and impacts hormones. Unlike cigarettes, the warnings about sugar are not as loud as they should, although sugar does the same, if not worse damage than cigarettes. It is eight times more addictive than cocaine. Most of the sugar is hidden in processed foods and sweetened drinks.

Added sugar contains no nutrients and is bad for the teeth. Everybody knows that sugar is your teeth’s worst enemy. Added sugars (like sucrose and high fructose corn syrup) contain a whole bunch of calories with absolutely no essential nutrients. For this reason, they are called “empty” calories. There are no proteins, essential fats, vitamins or minerals in sugar, it is just pure energy. When people eat up to 10-20% of calories as sugar (or more), this can become a major problem and contribute to nutrient deficiencies. Sugar provides easily digestible energy for the bacteria in your mouth.

Added sugar is high in fructose, which can overload your liver before sugar enters the bloodstream from the digestive tract; it is broken down into two simple sugars – glucose and fructose. Glucose is found in every living cell on the planet. If people do not get it from their food, their bodies will produce it. With fructose, the case is different. Our bodies do not produce it in any significant amount and there is no physiological need for it. Fructose can only be metabolized by the liver in any significant amounts. And this is not an issue for the liver if we take small amounts and in natural form (such as from fruit). In this case, the fructose will be turned into glycogen and stored in the liver until we need it. But, if the liver is full of glycogen, eating a lot of fructose is forcing it to turn the fructose into fat. Regular intake of sugar leads to fatty liver.

Sugar can cause insulin resistance, which leads towards metabolic syndrome and diabetes Insulin is a very important hormone in the body. Insulin allows glucose (blood sugar) to enter cells from the bloodstream and commands the cells to start burning glucose instead of fat. Having too much glucose in the blood is toxic and one of the reasons for complications of diabetes, like blindness.

Sugar can cause cancer. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and is characterized by uncontrolled growth and multiplication of cells. Insulin is one of the key hormones in regulating this sort of growth. For this reason, many scientists believe that having constantly elevated insulin levels can lead to cancer. The metabolic problems associated with sugar consumption are a known cause of inflammation, another potential cause of cancer. Multiple studies show that regular intake of sugar (and in high doses) will surely lead to cancer.

Sugar causes extreme dopamine release in the brain which leads to addiction Sugar can be addictive for a lot of people. Just like abusive drugs, sugar causes a release of dopamine in the reward center of the brain. Just like junk foods, sugar causes massive dopamine release and people are known to get easily addicted to it. The saying that any food is okay if it is taken in moderation should not be taken for granted. Sugar addiction is a real thing.
