So, it's one year already.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - THAT's no news. Time always fly. It is whatever one makes out of any given time that makes the difference between a time well spent or a wasted opportunity. Anyway, spit it out as l know you must be driving at something.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - I agree with you brother. And as you second guess me, l was referring to that conversation we were having a year ago thereabout. You remember that Bayo Adelabu interview on Fresh FM last year. I recall we were really dissecting its kernels until that exchange ended abruptly.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - YES, l can recollect brotherman. And l was really enjoying that discourse until that shocking news of the death of former Governor Ajimobi took the shine off our serious gist. May God rest the spirit of the man the APC people love to call the architect of modern Oyo State.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - YOU are right. The APC party stalwarts love to refer to their late leader as such. They think he was the best to have happened to Oyo State in the area of governance since its creation in 1976. And l would actually agree with those APC and late Ajimobi supporters that he actually turned around the face and fortunes of Oyo State within the unprecedented eight years of being in the saddle of governance in the Pacesetter State. And if you ask me the people of the state would have the same opinion about their late Governor since his sudden demise a year ago. That takes me to yet again another Penkele interview with the "irresistible Mayor Isaac Brown" last Saturday, 26th June, 2021 at the same Fresh FM radio station. Trust me, l won't miss such a hot political interview especially with the calibre of person like Adelabu...</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - CUTS in...Now l know you are dragging me to another political jaw-jaw when l am not very sure l wanna go there this morning.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - CALM down Bros. I was about telling you how Adelabu was almost castigating the Isaac Brown Panel of interviewers and by extension, the Nigerian society for the way they were eulogising the late Governor Ajimobi as a visionary and revolutionary and eloquent administrator all through his eight years as a two term Governor of Oyo State.</div><div>His grouse was that why was it difficult for people to appreciate, honour and eulogise visionary and progressive leaders while they were yet alive but wait until such person had passed on or out of the stage.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - YOU are right. But l think Mayor himself conceeded to that. He proverbially ate the humble pie when he later at some point in the interview said "Ai se daadaa ara aye lo n mu nii ranti ara orun". And if you ask me, the Mayor was unwittingly castigating the GSM for non-perfornance! </div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - FOR me, there were many issues and take aways from the Penkele interview that we can not fully exhaust here. The banking and financie technocrat talked about the Park Management System (PMS), he spoke about the increasingly pervading insecurity in Oyo State, the management of tertiary institutions, party politics and management, economic, educational, sports and agricultural matters etc. And in none of these issues did he spare the GSM Government or give him any pass mark. Going by his tone in that interview, unlike a year ago on same radio platform, he was never patronising and didn't spare any punch against GSM and his government. He barely stopped at saying that GSM was clueless and not really capable of administring and managing the complexity of a state as big as Oyo. As Adelabu puts it, "The tone at the top" within the Oyo State Government breeds mediocrity, recklessness, brigandage and the insecurity as we are currently experiencing in the state.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2- BUT then, while l would agree with some of the Adelabu criticism of Governor Makinde's administration, at least, he would have mentioned some areas where GSM had made impacts like the recruitment of 5,000 teachers and the regular payment of salaries of government workers. Anyway, the Mayor succeeded in highlighting the government achievements in those areas. Then Penkele equally papered over the obvious shortcomings of his AP.C led Federal Government. While he praised Buhari to high heavens on his economic programmes like the revamping of the railway system, he rubished the Oyo government strides in the area of garage constructions and transportation system.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 -HAHAA! Don't be naive now! Where have you ever seen an opposition politician praising the party in power? At least in the Nigerian climes here. The natural thing for him was to praise his APC and President Buhari to high heavens and paint the PDP and GSM as black as possible. Penkele even reminded Mayor that there must be something positive and much attractive in his party that is making even some PDP sitting Governors cross over to his party, the APC! And about the payment of salary you talked about, didn't you hear Penkele challenged GSM not to go cap in hand to Abuja this month-end "l bet, they won't pay the next salary!" That was how Penkele brutally dismissed the much vaunted regular payment of salaries by the current government in the state. As if that was not enough, Penkele took the communication skills of Governor Makinde to the cleaners. He said he was lacking in coherent public communication and presentation skills. He lampooned the Governor for his penchant for repeatedly uttering "em, em, em" whenever the Governor was talking to the press. He was short of saying the Governor was a political fraud(like the MMM Ponzi scheme) and not fit to occupy the No.1 political seat in Oyo State. For me, that was very uncharitable and sort of hitting GSM below the belt We can't all be as eloquent as the Cicero when it comes to public communication.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - IT is better as you have clarified that Penkele jab against Seyi Makinde on his style of communication. If not, l was beginning to think perhaps you are an APC apologist or even the party's spokeperson!</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - COME off it guy. You know l would say things the way l see them. I don't claim to be right always. But l can always decipher my right hand from the left. So you would be wrong to say l am...</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - CUTS in...We don hear you Bros. I am only trying to keep you on track as a matter of fact.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - TALKING about being on track. Adelabu equally raised the issue of Alternative Project Funding Approach being employed for executing infrastructural and developmental projects in Oyo State. I had been enamoured by this approach until Adelabu came down hard against it and burst the bubble in that interview. Now l am more confused on whether to still stay as a GSM fan on this APFA or reasoned along with Penkele on his exposé.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - WHAT is wrong with the APFA by GSM? For me, it would allow faster development of the state's infrastructure. More roads and other development projects would be carried out while there would be less pressure on the Government to commit the state's scarce resources on building infrastructures alone.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - WHILE I agree with you on that, Adelabu argued that such approach does not make much economic sense as it would only plunge Oyo State into future debt notwithstanding that the current government has already incurred debts running into hundreds of billions of naira. He advised that the present government should cut its cloth according to its size so as not to put future administrations in the state into unnecessary financial debts and economic slavery.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - I am sure all the organs and functionaries of GSM's Government would have gone to town by now frantically responding to Penkele point by point on all the issues raised against their Principal! I tell you guy, this week would be interesting as there would be much counter fireworks from the GSM camp.</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - YOU are even talking about lesser political officials and government functionaries reacting to the Penkele Fresh FM interview. Even the big masquerade himself is already reacting. GSM later confessed same day of the Penkele interview that he stayed glued to his radio set listening and paying attention to all that Adelabu had to say about his government and politics generally. So, if one has to interpret that statement from the Governor himself, it stands to reason that this Bayo Adelabu Penkelemesi is the major issue and the most potent contender against the Governor.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 2 - ALL said, it seems this Adelabu has set off at dawn talking about the 2023 Governorship Election in Oyo State. Apart from his latest Fresh FM interview being the second one within a year, he told the Anchor of the interview that he would soon be back on the platform for another round of political interviews. No doubt, this Penkele is repeating for the upteenth time that he is still the Bayo You can Trust and that as his supporters would put it, this Bayo is Better!</div><div><br /></div><div>OYO 1 - YOU can say that again. Adelabu appears to be ready for the next Governorship race and better prepared than other aspirants that are showing interest in the Governorship seat come 2023. And if you ask me, these other aspirants and intending ones should be ready to play a daunting catch up game by the time the political race hots up!</div><div><br /></div><div>###############</div><div><br /></div><div>The above is the second in the series of the improvised dialogue between two Oyo residents who had both listened to the second edition of live broadcast of a radio programme, " POLITICAL CIRCUIT", a FRESH FM, Ibadan political interview programme aired on Saturday, 26th June, 2021. The programme featured Chief Bayo Adelabu as Special Guest.</div>Deeduke Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00757268554028704854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4652863994309837618.post-3201782057518568062021-03-29T06:59:00.001-07:002021-03-29T10:58:14.462-07:00 Adelabu: Tinubu is the Visionary Leader Nigeria Needs <div>The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has described the National leader of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the visionary leader Nigeria needs at this critical moment.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSvVWqdrAAPBLZEerEDov-XtGx_u0Rn2_4Pev6AZdwUW_IMklseglXcv2FrLaCzDMFAk6A37KG16XYmoSBvScV6ZjDXJOu90HFEKvMHlUwB_K8pbu4_wdDEMjO4DkhTnrePgNNHoUCLcM/s410/IMG_20210329_143940.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="410" data-original-width="398" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSvVWqdrAAPBLZEerEDov-XtGx_u0Rn2_4Pev6AZdwUW_IMklseglXcv2FrLaCzDMFAk6A37KG16XYmoSBvScV6ZjDXJOu90HFEKvMHlUwB_K8pbu4_wdDEMjO4DkhTnrePgNNHoUCLcM/s320/IMG_20210329_143940.jpg" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Chief Adelabu stated this in a congratulatory message to celebrate the 69th birthday of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu which was made available to journalists, by one of his media aides, Comrade Femi Awogboro.</div><div><br /></div><div>According to the former CBN Deputy Governor, the Jagaban Borgu has contributed greatly to the advancement of the country's nascent democracy.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfcakDn5eyhQzbMkSfxJoUb_Edrn6EpzC0gIw0KvHUYmfTEoOQJJqHpcHUq1CUJGRzFBW-eUgheChrJpbhyphenhyphencuqdrnp3cGQRirO5neTha4U58_fVcdk-NQ7IWH2vYinq3Z0sfiavcbbgDE/s470/IMG_20210329_144015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="452" data-original-width="470" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfcakDn5eyhQzbMkSfxJoUb_Edrn6EpzC0gIw0KvHUYmfTEoOQJJqHpcHUq1CUJGRzFBW-eUgheChrJpbhyphenhyphencuqdrnp3cGQRirO5neTha4U58_fVcdk-NQ7IWH2vYinq3Z0sfiavcbbgDE/s320/IMG_20210329_144015.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>"Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a blessing not only to the South West region but Nigeria and the African continent as a whole. We can't let it all slide under the carpet, what is to be fate of the families of Jimoh Isiaq and many others who lost their children or ward; the families of the police men who were victims of mob action. It is beyond mere giving their families 1 million naira. Whatever happened to serving justice on this matter.</div><div><br /></div><div>And while we are still awaiting President Buhari to make comment on the Lekki shooting (if ever) and proffer a way forward from this quagmire we find ourselves as a nation, can the respective state government including our dear Oyo State also go ahead to set up their investigative panels and annihilate the incessant protest which obviously has been hijacked by miscreants.</div><div><br /></div><div>A lot of properties and businesses have been destroyed in Lagos State. Certainly the investors, staff and other beneficiaries will know the level of impact this will have on them and by extension the economy of the state. Coming back home, a lot of properties are being destroyed in Ibadan, Ogbomoso and other regions which has further aided in grounding further the economy after the massive effect of the pandemic and only active stakeholders will care about the present state, they will be more concerned about getting to the roots of the protest and not by sponsoring or supporting the agitation that has obviously been hijacked by miscreants.</div><div><br /></div><div>Miscreants will not stop at looting and destroying lives and properties of the people and investments. Remember, Justice for one is justice for all!</div><script async="" src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

We have been a nation of citizens who have been less dependent on government so we have inadvertently made it a point of duty to critique every move of the government, which we are doing effortlessly.</div><div><br /></div><div>However, there are other criticism which I somewhat feel we over indulge our capacity. The world is a changing dynamic and we have to switch on to the next gear of acceleration else, we can be caught napping or so to say, forever left basking on our past euphoria. The earlier we accept the reality of the present day fact and empirical figures, the better we admit the world is moving at the speed of light from how we left it barely last night before slumber.</div><div><br /></div><div>Education is not the only solution to modern development and economic growth, there are way other sectors which contributes their respective quota to the growth of an economy. The entertainment industry is a prolific industry on its own, we also have the sports, arts and culture, hospitality, tourism, engineering, advertisement. Though most of these industries stem from primary and secondary education, but they also involve training and capacity building which is beyond the four walls of the educational system. Quite sadly, the proclivity is hinged on training and building oneself to being the best in one's department.</div><div><br /></div><div><div>Some popular Nigeria banter is that Ronaldinho would have been a complete failure in the four wall;s of the classroom if there had been nothing called football and consequently, he would have been a failure in life. Needless to say that it did not happen that way, instead, he became one of the greatest footballers of all time. I can say the same thing about successful musical artistes, professional boxers, motivational speakers, even the great Mark Zuckerberg was a Harvard dropout, who just wanted to leave school and embark on his breathtaking project of starting Facebook.</div><div><br /></div><div>More recently in Nigeria, Gov. Dapo Abiodun awarded a youth ambassadorial role to Laycon, the winner of the BBNaija Lockdown 2020 winner, with #5m and an apartment and as expected the governor has been getting the sticks for not awarding similar gesture to the past winners of the National Jets Competition from Ogun State. I quite align with the sentiment, but pitching Jets Competition side by side with BBNaija is not totally the way to go. All industry, be it Scientific research, Science and Technology and so on, have their economic value and none can be disposed at the expense of the other. We can't have a competition erected where there is none. Michael Jackson never competed with the best Havard graduate, instead they all evolved from their respective niche and build the future therein.</div></div><div><br /></div><div><div>Fighting for the deficiencies in educational financies while also agitating for a decline in other sectors of the economy, even if it is the least important of them all is not the way forward. Education should not serve as a yardstick for comparing other sectors and vice versa, instead, let's agitate for an increase in appreciating educational activities more while not bringing down other department. The sky is big enough for all the birds to fly. Let's work together to make the government spend on educational program as it remains the foundation for career growth and capacity building, but not at the detriment of the other sector.</div><div><br /></div><div>The entire country needs all sectors and departments excelling to reach a developed international standard. National economic boost is a function of all working sectors in a country, and even though education is the fundamental and basic foundation for all sectors to thrive, it subsequently needs all others very functional to move the entire country forward and functional.</div><div><br /></div><div>Written By</div><div>Oluwatobi Adisa</div><div>@deeduke1</div></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiREDRogPw66NnPkmqWn-bb-dMzjGiBEwrMiW3dWXYrhSvvISoKv55xcOYLrnlE51ieJ8b2VuSDTsR0rrw02xtAJiDmfPXCVP8hAPzx3D6K7boWnjcJ4g99IcnsTRWcU5Q0lrnym_QcGeY/s720/FB_IMG_1547477254610.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="720" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiREDRogPw66NnPkmqWn-bb-dMzjGiBEwrMiW3dWXYrhSvvISoKv55xcOYLrnlE51ieJ8b2VuSDTsR0rrw02xtAJiDmfPXCVP8hAPzx3D6K7boWnjcJ4g99IcnsTRWcU5Q0lrnym_QcGeY/s320/FB_IMG_1547477254610.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><script async="" src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

"If you inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader". John Quincy Adams.<br />
<br />
Some people come and leave certain impression, too feeble, too little, like a bubbling soap or a movie cameo, but she has come to sparkle the world with effinescent mind and create a lasting impression. She is a beacon angel that illuminates the path of others. Thanks for always being there for us.<br />
<br />
At over six decades, she is inching closer to her dreams, she sees life as a journey and inspite of all odds, she is enjoying every mile and every step comes at the right time. A birthday is not to ask for your number of years but to know how many cheerleaders you have raised. She is a typical leader of leaders.<br />
<br />
You believe so much in supreme good and once said, quoting Althessaur "only the production of new knowledge keeps old knowledge alive".<br />
<br />
Nothing gladdens her heart than to think ahead of the future. Both in politics and her chosen legal profession, she has blazed an exemplary trail for others coming behind and she never rest on her oars.<br />
<br />
Through her foundation, the OAF, she has put smiles on many sunken faces and brightens the hopes of many hopeless. She is not relenting in her efforts to raise several hopes and better lots of lives. She has helped many people as a public office holder and like a glowing moon her return is always desired.<br />
<br />
Today being your birthday, I bring you an extra share of what makes you happy and pray for the fulfillment of your dreams. You are a lighthouse that brightens the lights of others, may your own path receive a divine light that will coruseate your own way. May your missions on earth be accomplished. You don't look frumpy at your age, you are a year older, but looking far younger, what a perfect combination of nature and nuture.<br />
<br />
Join us in celebrating the rare leader, the Iya yYeye of Ona Ara land.<br />
<br />
Happy Birthday ma.<br />

Dear Progressives,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJawpOGIXjMafH0nStPWOobPuZgKsavykF5V48Sx9fqZlymkYluvjYEIxpPtErnoo7AEwwrkUC_r5GdbbRyMbi-m-D4xHil-W2IM_cdXSRbkAot-4k_hteT9HjBbtlDDjZqv3cMreSehQ/s1600/IMG_20200204_152323.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="892" data-original-width="664" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJawpOGIXjMafH0nStPWOobPuZgKsavykF5V48Sx9fqZlymkYluvjYEIxpPtErnoo7AEwwrkUC_r5GdbbRyMbi-m-D4xHil-W2IM_cdXSRbkAot-4k_hteT9HjBbtlDDjZqv3cMreSehQ/s320/IMG_20200204_152323.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
I received with amazement and utmost dissappointment the news of the unexpected and unfavourable Appeal court judgement delivered in Ibadan today on the ALGON vs Oyo State govt case. I want to enjoin our party members not to feel depressed or discouraged with this development as it is just a temporary setback. All we need to do now is to see this as an opportunity to bury all our differences, unite as a party more than ever before. This will enable us rally all the necessary support, moral, financial and political, for ALGON to proceed to the Supreme court to seek redress and achieve victory for our party. I believe we have a good case at hand. Given all the facts presented to the court and the precedents cited by the counsels during the hearing, victory for ALGON was expected and almost assured. I'm confident that the Supreme court will correct this injustice and rape of our constitutional democracy.<br />
<br />
This case should not be seen as that of ALGON alone but a case to be taken up by every constitutional democracy loving member of our party and the general public to ensure that the rule of law prevails. I'm excited at developments and reactions within our party following this judgement as critical stakeholders within the party are now showing unwavering interest in pushing this case forward. I'm appealing to all and sundry to let us use this platform to unite all members and fight this case with unity of purpose and as a common cause to the end. I see light at the end of the tunnel.<br />
<br />
I want to use this opportunity to appeal to our party leadership to immediately summon a stakeholders meeting on the next step as soon as the lawyers review and interpretation of the judgement is concluded. Evil can only prevail when the righteous are quiet. I'm renewing my dedication and commitment to this cause irrespective of steps taken to date on this same case and i also promise to reach out to other critical stakeholders and like minds to rally support for ALGON at the state, regional and national level. May God bless our struggle.<br />

Following the announcement that my brother, Oyo State Governor, His excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde has tested positive to COVID19, I want to use this opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery and abundance of health going forward.<br />

<br />
His decision to self-isolate in line with government’s measures to reduce the transmission of the virus is right and commendable. May God give us strength in these trying times.<br />
<br />
This is a time for us all to shun petty politics, and for all hands to be on deck in order to contain and eradicate COVID19 in our dear state and Nigeria as a whole.<br />
<br />
We must support the efforts of government by following the safeguarding guidelines they have provided as this will help reduce the spread of the virus.<br />
<br />
The government must also be supported by capable and well meaning indigenes and residents to provide adequate treatment to those who are already infected.<br />
<br />
In my personal effort to provide support in these trying times, in addition to various programmes we currently have in place to provide succour to the people which include but not limited to distribution of preventive items like sanitisers, nose masks, hand gloves, palliatives like food, water and minimal cash transfers to the indigents and the needy, we will also be liaising with relevant authorities including the NCDC and UCH to see how we can support their current medical initiatives and crisis management plan.<br />
<br />
COVID19 is a global medical epidemic that must be taken seriously by all and sundry, please stay safe and keep others safe by following government guidelines. At this crucial moment, we need not politicise any of our efforts and avoid hate speech as issues bothering on our health concern our lives and we must all be our brothers' keeper for us all to remain alive and fulfil our destinies. May God help us.<br />

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has appealed to the warring parties in the Oyo State local government saga to thread the path of peace while the imbroglio is resolved.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdtWSsiXGxgf3aBJxDD4eMCRmmscl6sESFignkFPNc33d0clr3I1m_oKBGoR4fXHoZ_MdMyRTITFmqoEaenRRgJmV7UEMUypGqt-Kiq3wWrvUXZy6P-5HjcUMMm6YOlXrWuuKQBaUf48Q/s1600/IMG_1906-01.jpeg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdtWSsiXGxgf3aBJxDD4eMCRmmscl6sESFignkFPNc33d0clr3I1m_oKBGoR4fXHoZ_MdMyRTITFmqoEaenRRgJmV7UEMUypGqt-Kiq3wWrvUXZy6P-5HjcUMMm6YOlXrWuuKQBaUf48Q/s320/IMG_1906-01.jpeg.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Adelabu expressed concern over the loss of life and sustaining of injuries among supporters of the sacked LG and appointed caretaker chairmen following the tussle on who takes control of local government administration in Oyo State.<br />
<br />
He disclosed that the current unfortunate but preventable crisis in the state compelled him to break his silence on the state of affairs in Oyo State.<br />
<br />
It would be recalled that one person was reported to have lost his life in Surulere Local Government Area while others sustained various degrees of injury during a violent clash between the two chairmen.<br />
<br />
According to him, no sane person will stand by while the state is set on fire by a situation that requires matured and sagacious handling by those at the helms of affairs.<br />
<br />
Adelabu observed that "no struggle for reinstatement to the office of either of the parties is worth the shedding of blood of politicians and innocent citizens."<br />

<br />
The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has appealed to the warring parties in the Oyo State local government saga to thread the path of peace while the imbroglio is resolved.<br />
<br />
Adelabu expressed concern over the loss of life and sustaining of injuries among supporters of the sacked LG and appointed caretaker chairmen following the tussle on who takes control of local government administration in Oyo State.<br />
<br />
He disclosed that the current unfortunate but preventable crisis in the state compelled him to break his silence on the state of affairs in Oyo State.<br />
<br />
It would be recalled that one person was reported to have lost his life in Surulere Local Government Area while others sustained various degrees of injury during a violent clash between the two chairmen.<br />
<br />
According to him, no sane person will stand by while the state is set on fire by a situation that requires matured and sagacious handling by those at the helms of affairs.<br />
<br />
Adelabu observed that "no struggle for reinstatement to the office of either of the parties is worth the shedding of blood of politicians and innocent citizens."<br />
<br />
He reiterated that "the chairmen are fighting for their fundamental right to complete their tenure as duly elected chairmen and they have taken the right step by taking legal action to advance their cause.<br />

The Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation was right only to the extent of tagging the outfit “Amotekun” as presently constituted as being illegal. However, he has no rights or powers whatsoever to declare it illegal as only a court of competent jurisdiction can do that.<br />

<br />
The South-West Governors ought to have sought and received legal opinions and advice from their respective Attorneys-General before embarking on such a laudable move but which they have done in an illegal manner.<br />
<br />
It does not matter that one of the South-West Governors is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. In the Ondo State executive council or cabinet as it is presently constituted, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, though a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a Past President of the Nigerian Bar Association is not the Chief Legal Officer or Chief Legal Adviser to the Ondo State Government. Aketi is just the head of the executive there as the Governor of the State and not a legal practitioner for now in the state. The only person who can speak authoritatively when issues and or matters relating to laws arise in Ondo State or in any other state is the State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. Besides that, any other opinions or views expressed officially in any state by anybody other than the Attorney-General are mere orbiter dicta and are of no moment.<br />
<br />
In 2012, when Oyo State Government under the father of the mordern Oyo State , Senator Abiola Ajimobi wanted to change the face of the state’s security architecture to an enduring and lasting legacy one, after we have perfected the blueprint of what we codenamed ”Operation Burst”, a crack joint security outfit, we sought and applied for the consent of the President and the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the then President Gooldluck Ebele Jonathan who graciously approved same for us. The achievements of that efforts are there for posterity to judge, but it is on record and undeniable that Oyo State after the launch of Operation Burst moved away from being a state hitherto known for brigandage and chaos where lives were brutish, short and nasty (Hobbesian state) to become the most peaceful state in Nigeria till 29th May, 2019.<br />
<br />
Had it been that we wanted to use our own personnel for the Operation Burst Model instead of relying on the conventional security apparatus of the Federal Government, we would have firstly forwarded a bill for a law to birth same to the Oyo State House of Assembly for passage and subsequent assent by the Governor.<br />
<br />
In the Amotekun’s case , same was not done and I make bold to say that all the Governors of the states in the South-West who were parties to the operations goofed in that respect as they have placed the cart before the horse. But it is not too late for them to do the needful.<br />
<br />
In 2013, when the security agencies in the state alerted us of the existence of a budding terrorist group in a camp along Iseyin- Shaki road, we got a court order to proscribe the group and same was declared by court to be an illegal outfit and they were dislodged from the camp.<br />
<br />
As Hon. Attorney-General of Oyo State at that time, I did not use my discretion as Mr Mallami SAN did and neither were the functions of court usurped by our government.<br />
<br />
The Hon. Attorney-General of the Federation obtained a court order to proscribe the El-Zakyzaky’s group which was the way to go and he was applauded by all and sundry for that.<br />
<br />
However, his recent pronouncement on the Amotekun security model in which he declared same as illegal is clearly ultra vires of an Attorney-General who knows his onions and worth.<br />
<br />
Afenifere and all other groups, bodies and persons goading the South-West Governors should please thread cautiously legally as their various comments are nothing but mere expressions of emotions, sentiments and sensationalism which have no legal basis, and if we may be blunt they are politically jaundiced motivated opinions.<br />
<br />
Undoubtedly, South-West and indeed every part of Nigeria need to be secured in view of the total breakdown of security in Nigeria, but must it be done haphazardly and in an illegal manner without doing all things that are necessary for its take-off? It is even clear that the SW Governors are merely playing to the gallery because they are yet to have any framework for the operations of the much touted Amotekun.<br />
<br />
And if I may ask –<br />
<br />
Where is the operational headquarter of Amotekun?<br />
<br />
Where are the respective States’ headquarters?<br />
<br />
Who is the Commander In Chief of the operation or its head?<br />
<br />
Who are the Operational Commanders?<br />
<br />
And who are the footsoldiers or the field officers? And I can go on and on.<br />
<br />
Besides the vehicles and the drivers that are displayed, where are the other ingredients?<br />
<br />
Dont let us be emotional and we must do away with that feeble defence that because the Hisbah in Kano State did not have any law that birthed it, then , must we also go lawless? Have we forgotten that the Yorubas are the Pace-setters in Nigeria and we are always known and associate with the Rule of Laws and the Due Process of Law? Hence er must not lose that prime position in the scheme of doing things rightly.<br />
<br />
Also, we must be very wary of further raising militias and bandits that we wont be able to control in the nearest future as we should remember how a North-East Governor nutured and midwifed the now dreaded Boko Haram into a full blown terrorist group. We should not forget the numbers of innocent souls that were gruesomely murdered by the activities of the Oodua People Congress during their factional rifts under Dr. Fredrick Fasheun and Aare Ona Kakanfo Gani Adams. The South-West Governors can partner with OPC under Aare Gani Adams or with any other group or body for that matter, but it must be well-thought out.<br />
<br />
Let us thread softly and follow the laws and the Constitution in heralding the Operation Amotekun to secure the South-West. It must be wholesomely and comprehensively packaged rather than the present fire brigade Amotekun at outfit.<br />

The governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State during last year general election, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has commiserated with Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and all the traders whose properties and wares were affected during the early morning fire that razed the popular Akesan market in the town.<br />

"I was deeply touched when I received the news. More disheartening is that the fire service base that is less than 20 metres to the market could not be mobilised to stop the inferno due to dysfunctional equipments. It is high time the government woke up to its responsibilities as what is the essence of a government that cannot protect his people at a critical time of need such as this. I advise that Oyo state government take a critical look at both the immediate and remote causes of this incident as well as circumstances surrounding the lack of capacity of the fire service personnel to rise to the occasion, with a view to preventing future re-occurence"<br />

I greet my dear great people of Oyo State. In the last few weeks since the 2019 gubernatorial election petition found itself before the supreme court, our dear state has been gripped with palpable tension. But now that the judgement has been given, I strongly believe that the time has come for the state to move forward in order for necessary benefits of democracy to accrue.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0LwD9PRMhtX7sCDVuUXe97Xwg22ZF8sPxKwJxQS8h66kbuUXElzUDC8kExy2GqUQmZMuuvpbvcgy9iMvdeUbg5nB5yNXMBZ8W-7Uvc-6DkpQ4Lpz01AGuuba99yK_vt9NSUZeEU4Ihos/s1600/IMG-20190104-WA0020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="633" data-original-width="464" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0LwD9PRMhtX7sCDVuUXe97Xwg22ZF8sPxKwJxQS8h66kbuUXElzUDC8kExy2GqUQmZMuuvpbvcgy9iMvdeUbg5nB5yNXMBZ8W-7Uvc-6DkpQ4Lpz01AGuuba99yK_vt9NSUZeEU4Ihos/s320/IMG-20190104-WA0020.jpg" width="234" /></a></div>
<br />
As your candidate, after the elections, we took advantage of the law as provided for by the electoral act and moved from the Tribunal through to the Appeal court and finally, the Supreme Court. <br />
<br />
As the highest court in the land, it is the court of last resort for those looking for justice.<br />
<br />
This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and vision we hold for our dear state. But I feel pride and gratitude for the wonderful opportunity and campaign that we built together, the vast, diverse, creative, energised campaign.<br />
<br />
I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it, too. And so do hundreds of thousands of voters who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort and voted for us.<br />
<br />
Democracy works when you have a vigorous campaign between competing manifestos to get to that vision. But once the election is over, once all avenue to seek redress for perceived electoral wrongdoing has been exhausted, one side wins and the other side is supposed to hold fire, and let the winner govern on the basis of their vision for the development of the state and let the electorate be the judge of their performance or otherwise.<br />
<br />
I know most of our supporters are disappointed. I am too but our disappointment must be overcome by the love for our dear state. This will not in any way, deter me from continuing to contribute my quota, in my personal capacity, to the development of our dear state towards achieving the desired economic emancipation of our people.<br />
<br />
I thank you all for your faith and trust in me. I thank our party leadership and all members for their dedication and hard work during and after the elections.<br />
<br />
I urge you not to relent in your support for our great party (APC) as we conclude the genuine reconciliations and party re-building we have all started for sake of desired success as we prepare for future elections.<br />
<br />
I also use this opportunity to congratulate my brother, GSM. I wish His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde a peaceful, magnanimous and development-focused tenure.<br />
<br />
God bless you all!<br />
<br />
<br />
God bless APC!<br />
God bless Oyo state!!<br />
God bless Nigeria!!!<br />

The call, which was contained in a release by the initiative for Ethics and Values Orientation, popularly known as THE ETHICS, after the end of it's Board meeting in Ibadan on Monday, was made available to the press.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0VDx5Qetk1CcvziyVrxEgoD6M5-FX9oobLww8tFgLNbbXDSecXgA32uOFq6w20JfFRsM6ksEPj4_n4C936nNCUfkFYWvAjMP5xSxhF0q9vxEtwf68WJHT1ioWKWRoDhPuXH6KKQIlrlA/s1600/IMG-20170410-WA0008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="630" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0VDx5Qetk1CcvziyVrxEgoD6M5-FX9oobLww8tFgLNbbXDSecXgA32uOFq6w20JfFRsM6ksEPj4_n4C936nNCUfkFYWvAjMP5xSxhF0q9vxEtwf68WJHT1ioWKWRoDhPuXH6KKQIlrlA/s320/IMG-20170410-WA0008.jpg" width="252" /></a></div>
<br />
The release was signed by the organization's principal partner, Alhaji Isiaka Kehinde and it primarily addressed what it calls "burning issues of ethical rut that has assailed the country". According to the release" All available indixes on mortality of our country point into the direction of values-deficit and we need to take a firm step to address it frontally, else we will all suffer it's unimaginable backlash. Hence, there is an urgent need to integrate right value and attitude change in our developmental policies and programming to put our nation on a sustainable growth trajectory'.<br />
<br />
The NGO, which started it's TENTH Anniversary events today hinted that the Government is not doing much to address frontally the ethical challenges confronting the nation which in all sectors, is hobbling policy development. This, the initiative noted is "A disaster of the mind" that must be fixed before diagnosing other ailments as it can beat a nation to it's torpor.<br />
<br />
The Ethics also maintained that in a fast- paced world, any reforms that fail to begin with ethical revolution is like papering the cracks as it will only fix the exteriors whereas, without building strong cultures of attitudinal re-orientation and promote Ethics and Compliance that will shape our progress, whatever gains we make, will be short lived.<br />
<br />
The statement reads in part 'it's unfortunate that our society is now blighted with amoral virus which incandescently, is slowing us down and fast turning us to a society that drives it's members to a desperate solution. As a matter of urgency, our leaders need to whip up the citizens to turn the lights of their minds to develop ennobling attitudes that will increase our self awareness and raise our moral worth. If truly, as Blaise Pascal asserts, our dignity lies in thoughts", it follows logically that we should hone our thoughts on positive ventures that will propel, rather than, drive us back. We live in a generation consumed with changing exteriors only forgetting that greatness can come only from within. That's the true change we should be preaching and encouraging".<br />
<br />
The statement, added that "as we have now found ourselves in an incredibly fluid era of social evolution, the Government needs to partner with the Civil Society particularly those in the field of Ethics and Compliance to raise advocacy capacity on how best we can build ideal people that will make an ideal society". It offers that, "as our case is anew, we must think anew and emplace new values, new attitudes and new beginning that will reflect itself in our, personal, family and societal values. Any other solutions, is begging the question".<br />
<br />
The organization therefore calls on Government at all levels to redouble efforts in the promotion of values, integrity and corporate standard to save the nation from the precarious situation of Ethics-risk.<br />

PulseNG<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
We explain what the social media bill is about and why it's generating so much anger in the social media space. Nigerians on social media have been clamouring against a bill that will regulate the online space in the country should it become law.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj-Kz7hXmzSnypGnDyj_93592K_UwSVpgo-d-TW2AbNrk8VlKxvAs9wsFfjjOpvuKc1DkxQEx2EPTR2dUSSXzX2e9gEFHbk2y64UcQKjyBrHJrNDZEVEbba_vWKuuYNGv9hOi07OjyRaU/s1600/4cb6fd9c698eb7ca6c915441f852a108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="313" data-original-width="469" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj-Kz7hXmzSnypGnDyj_93592K_UwSVpgo-d-TW2AbNrk8VlKxvAs9wsFfjjOpvuKc1DkxQEx2EPTR2dUSSXzX2e9gEFHbk2y64UcQKjyBrHJrNDZEVEbba_vWKuuYNGv9hOi07OjyRaU/s320/4cb6fd9c698eb7ca6c915441f852a108.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
For purposes of clarity, it's important to state that there are actually two bills out there agitating the minds of social media users in Nigeria at the moment. There is the ‘Hate Speech Bill’ and the ‘Social Media Bill’. Both bills are not one and the same, even though they have been conflated in discourses on the internet.<br />
<br />
The hate speech bill, otherwise called the ‘Prohibition of Hate Speech Bill’ is being championed by Sen. Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Deputy Chief Whip), while the social media bill, otherwise called the ‘Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill’ is the brainchild of Sen. Mohammed Sani Musa.<br />
There are allegations that the bills have been plagiarized from similar pieces of legislation in Singapore and elsewhere, but we'll pass for now.<br />
<br />
The social media bill passed the second reading on the floor of the senate on Wednesday, November 20, 2019; which means it’s well on its way to becoming law, seeing as it is only one more reading and assent by the executive, away.<br />
<br />
Musa says his bill will not gag social media users should it become law as is being propagated. He also says his piece of legislation only seeks to check the spread of fake news and falsehood. He cites the ‘Jubril from Sudan’ saga and tale as one reason why he’s doing this.<br />
<br />
According to Musa: “One of the disadvantages of the internet is the spread of falsehood and manipulation of unsuspecting users.<br />
<br />
“Today, motivated by geopolitical interest and identity politics, state and non-state actors use the internet to discredit government, misinform people and turn one group against the other. The hoax about the demise of President Muhammadu Buhari in London and his purported replacement by one Jubril of Sudan, among others, are things that threaten the peace, security and harmony of our people”.<br />
<br />
Musa also lamented that troll or bot accounts have been used to rapidly spread falsehood across Nigeria in a manner that now threatens national security. If the bill becomes an Act, anyone found guilty will pay a fine of N300,000 and corporate bodies who willfully promote and dispense fake news or falsehood deemed to threaten national security, will pay a fine of N10 million.<br />
<br />
“Penalty for defaulters goes up to N300,000 for individuals and up to N10 million for corporate organisations and imprisonment of up to three years or both. It also issues guidelines for internet intermediaries and providers of mass media services and sanctions for offenders,” the lawmaker says. The bill has 36 clauses which we shall carefully explore when the legislation becomes public and is readily available.<br />
<br />
Senators Ibrahim Gobir, Abba Moro and Elisha Abbo vehemently supported the bill during plenary this week. Senator Chimaroke Nnamani (Enugu East) was the only senator who opposed the bill on the floor of parliament when it came up for debate.<br />
<br />
According to Nnamani, the bill is completely unnecessary because some of its provisions have been taken care of in the Cyber Crime Act signed into law by former President Goodluck Jonathan.<br />
<br />
“I not only oppose this bill, I condemn it in its entirety. Based on our constitution, there is freedom of information and freedom of speech. There is a Cyber Crime Act that deals with this issue. There are also laws that deal with false information, libel, slander and so on. Yes, fake news has done a lot in America and other countries but they have not brought any law to deal with it. I, therefore, oppose this bill,” Nnamani said.<br />
<br />
After listening to both sides of the argument, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, put the debate to a voice vote. Majority of the senators went with Musa. Lawan would then refer the bill to the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Human Rights which will conduct a public hearing with stakeholders and report back after four weeks.<br />

Barely 24 hours after the refusal of the people of Oyo State to participate in a solidarity rally for the present governor of the State, Engr Seyi Makinde, the Peoples Democratic Party in the state have come up with another means of getting the sympathy of the people by threatening the market women, artisans, NURTW etc to embark on a protest against the Court of Appeal ruling.<br />

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan had on Monday November 11, 2019 upturned an earlier judgment of the lower Tribunal which declared Engr Seyi Makinde of PDP winner of March 9 governorship election.<br />
<br />
The governor and the party not knowing what to do have resulted to organising paid protests against the court ruling. Information gathered from a reliable source made known that the governor has directed his aides to start mobilising some market women and artisans across the state for another set of paid protest.<br />
<br />
The source says the governor maintains that he is still the governor of this state and any market men or women that refuses to participate in the protest will loose their shops.<br />
<br />
The governor had immediately set up a monitoring team to go round the market across the city and make sure no shops or business centre open so that the protest would be successful.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the Oyo Youths for Transparency and Good Governance (OYTGG) has called on the traders in the state not to be intimidated by the threat of the governor, describing it as an "empty threat which holds no water". The group said it is very unlawful for any authority to stop the people from going to about to get their daily bread in order to participate in a protest against the ruling of the Appeal Court".<br />
<br />
"We have had many judgment even against the ruling All Progressive Congress across the country and there was no report that any group were coarsed to embark on protest against court judgment".<br />
