1. Kiri Dam: Seven Communities Submerged in Adamawa by Flood

Seven communities were on Sunday flooded in Demsa and Numan local government areas of Adamawa state, following heavy flow of water from Kiri dam in the state. Kiri dam is in Guyuk Local Government Area. The dam, from the Gongola River, is about 30 kilometres length and 15 kilometres wide. Alhaji Haruna Furo, the Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola.

2. Jonathan’s Ministers Warn Buhari, APC to Stop Demonizing Past Administration

Those who served under the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan as ministers have described as unwarranted, the allegations of poor performance and corruption levelled against the last administration by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Muhammadu Buhari. The ex-ministers, in a statement issued on their behalf on Sunday by one-time Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman, said they have watched with increasing alarm and concern the concerted effort by the Buhari administration and members of the APC “to condemn, ridicule and undermine the efforts of that administration, in addition to impugning the integrity of its individual members.”

3. Kaduna Helicopter Crash: President Buhari Commiserates With Victims’ Families

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday commiserated with the families of the seven people that died in a Donier 228 aircraft crash on Saturday in Kaduna. The President who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, Ismail Aliyu, at the scene of the crash said the crash was a sad event, not only to the Armed Forces but to all Nigerians. “We want to, on behalf of the Federal Government, extend our condolences to all of them. May the almighty God forgive their sins.

4. Fayose Urges South West PDP Leaders to Contest National Chairmanship

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has called on notable leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest to be prepared to contest the party National Chairmanship position next year, saying the Southwest zone deserved the chairmanship position and all stakeholders must forge a common front to get it. The governor, who also maintained that installing a new chairman from the Northeast for the party at this time was a waste of time, advocated for the appointment of a caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the party after the expiration of the tenure of Chief Uche Secondus as Acting National Chairman.

5. Bayelsa Government Declares N2.8bn as Balance at Hand for July 2015

The Bayelsa State Government has declared the sum of N2.8 billion as balance at hand for the month of July, 2015. Governor Seriake Dickson, who made the declaration at the monthly transparency media briefing held over the weekend in Yenagoa, expressed concern over the dwindling fortunes of the state. He lamented that revenue from the federation account has dropped drastically from N18 billion in 2012 to about N9 billion.

6. Sokoto Farmers Lose Over N100million Worth of Farm Produce to Flood

Farm produce worth over N100 million have been destroyed by flood in 27 villages in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The Chairman of the Local Government, Shehu Chacho, disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday at Wurno. According to him, the already farm produce which include , rice, millet, guinea corn, maize and beans were washed away by flood caused by the release of excess water from Goronyo dam and it had affected no fewer than 7,577 farmers.

7. TSA Boosts Revenue Collections, as FAAC Shares N511bn – AGF

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation has said that the introduction of Treasury Single Account (TSA) will boost revenue collections against leakages and ensure timely disbursement of funds to beneficiaries of the Federation Accounts among others. The Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris made the disclosure during separate courtesy visits to his office by managements of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Access Bank and Zenith Banks.

8. APC Lists New Cases of Looting, Says PDP Mess Must be Cleared for Nigerians to Enjoy Better Life

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has listed new instances of alleged looting of the treasury by some officials of the Jonathan Administration, saying the corruption mess that characterized the Administration was so pervasive that until it is cleaned, Nigeria will not be able to actualize its potentials. ”The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammad said, ” Those who would rather give comfort to the looters by dismissing the media exposure of looting cases as mere hell-raising should realize that no sane person can be silent in the face of what is unfolding as the worst cases of brazen stealing of public funds in Nigeria’s history,” the party said in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

9. Lopsided Appointments: ACF Chieftain Faults Adesina, Shehu For Not Doing Enough

A National Executive Council member of the pan-northern socio-political organization, Arewa Consultative Forum, Mohammed Abdulrahman, has lambasted the spokesmen of President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to thoroughly manage the widespread backlash caused by the President’s recent appointments. It was reported that the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on Friday defended the appointments, promising the apparent lopsided nature of the appointments would “balance out very soon”. He stressed that the President was aware of Federal Character principle as enshrined in the constitution, adding that the ministerial list will be ready in September.

10. Amaechi Slams Wike, Says Probe Panel, Illegal

Former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed rumour of any probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over a rumoured possession of N7b in foreign account. Amaechi also dismissed statement credited to Governor Nyesom Wike that he is corrupt. Amaechi made the statement while addressing APC supporters in Port Harcout.
