A Humane Proposal For Buhari: Resign By Okey Ndibe

There’s a chance that President Muhammadu Buhari would have come back to Nigeria by the time you read this column, but the fact that he had twice postponed his return date encourages one conclusion: that the man is really, really sick. So here’s a humane proposal for the president: consider handing in your resignation letter.

I'm aware that some Nigerians still consider Mr. Buhari essential, if not indispensable, to our country’s prospect of rebirth. To these, a suggestion that the man ought to quit office must sound heretical—indeed seem like a prescription with a dollop of ghastly mischief. But such people are grandly deluded. Concrete ideas, not the cult of any particular personality, are best for a polity in need of ethical rejuvenation. And two years of Mr. Buhari’s tenure as president are adequate to demonstrate his paucity of ideas.

In place of robust and organic ideas for transforming Nigeria, he has merely offered us the pabulum that his reputation and goodwill are enough.

That idea, of the transformative power of President Buhari’s supposed moral gravitas, is hollow. What significant transformation have Nigerians witnessed, in any sector of their life, in the two years of Buhari’s presidency? The so-called war on corruption, Mr. Buhari’s best calling card, has failed to achieve the conviction of one significant political figure from the recent past.

After all the public drama of Dasukigate, what is the status of the case against former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki? If Mr. Buhari’s government has not been able to prosecute Mr. Dasuki to date, is there much hope of his administration making a noticeable dent in the war against corruption via prosecutorial means? I don’t think so.

Worse, Mr. Buhari’s much-vaunted crusade against graft has neither dampened nor discouraged the appetite for corruption in Nigeria. Police and customs officers still farm out on the road and extort bribes from hapless commuters and traders. Under Mr. Buhari’s watch, the Central Bank of Nigeria and other agencies corruptly handed out jobs to children and wards of the most privileged. Elections are still fraught with fraud, with the police and army rolled out to serve the ruling party’s partisan interests. Judicial processes operate at snail-speed; lawyers and judges collude in using incessant adjournments to derail justice. Mr. Buhari has done little more than yawn when political appointees close to him have been accused of corrupt acts.

If the Buhari brand ever represented antipathy to corruption, that image is now profoundly tarnished. At its core, corruption in Nigeria remains as vibrant and resilient as ever. If there’s a scaling back in levels of embezzlement, it owes less to the Buhari effect than to the significant decline in oil revenues.

As I have argued before, a government that disdains judicial orders, that turns the military on unarmed civilians, whether Shiites or Biafran agitators, is engaged in egregious acts of corruption.

The case for President Buhari’s resignation is unassailable. Any seriously sick president deserves the time and space to focus on his health. He can hardly do so while shouldering the burden of running a complex and beleaguered country. Besides, Nigeria is beset by grave crises that appear to worsen by the day. Nigerians deserve a leader at the height of mental and physical fitness, a president endowed with the agility and energy to wrestle with his country’s deep-rooted problems.

The trouble is not just that Mr. Buhari is enfeebled by age and illness. The greater issue is that he presides over a country that is manifestly sicker than he. The idea that an ailing man can effectively mind the business of a more seriously sick country is, quite simply, absurd. Should anybody doubt the graveness of Nigeria’s sickness, the fact of President Buhari’s prolonged medical trip to Britain should settle the matter.

Consider the facts for a moment. Mr. Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, their families and all employees at Aso Rock enjoy the most generously funded health facility within the Nigerian space. On February 2, 2016, Premium Times reported that the Presidency’s clinic “will get N787 million more in capital allocation than all the 16 teaching hospitals combined.”

According to the report, the “State House Medical Center is a facility that provides healthcare for President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, their families and other employees of the Presidency, all possibly less than a thousand.

“Federal teaching hospitals cater for the heath needs of millions of Nigerians, train medical doctors and other health professionals for the nation while also serving as top medical research centers.

“A breakdown of the 2016 Appropriation Bill shows that a total of N3.87 billion has been allocated for capital projects at the State House Clinic.” That allocation, I emphasize, exceeded the budget for the country’s 16 teaching hospitals.

In June 2016, Mr. Buhari hopped off to Britain to be treated for an ear infection. On this, his latest medical excursion to London, neither he nor his aides specified the nature of his malaise. Instead, his trip was portrayed as a vacation during which the president was to undergo “routine medical checkup.” Mr. Buhari wrote to tell the Senate, in foggy phraseology, that he was extending his stay in the UK “until the doctors are satisfied that certain factors are ruled out.

The doleful implication should not be lost on anyone. The best-funded clinic in Nigeria does not suffice to treat the president’s ear infection. Nor does the president have enough confidence in the same clinic to do his “routine checkups” there. Imagine, then, the fate of Nigerians who have no choice, but must seek treatment at the ill-equipped, wretchedly funded hospitals in our country. Are these Nigerians not simply woebegone, bereft of hope?

Let’s be fair: President Buhari is no sole author of the mess that is Nigeria. But let’s be honest: he has contributed, quite richly, to the creation of that mess. He has been a player as a military and civilian ruler. There is no evidence in his public career that he paid attention to bringing about a sound healthcare system for Nigerians. Instead, he has been content to travel to the UK for the kind of healthcare that he and his fellow cast of misrulers should have envisioned for all Nigerians.

The management of a country’s affairs should never be a part-time task. Even the most stable and developed nations require vigilant leadership. Nigeria, with its broken educational system, non-existent healthcare policy, terrible roads, shameful power supply etc, can ill afford a leader who, frequently, must choose between attending to his private headache or his country’s.

It makes eminent sense that Mr. Buhari resign in order to look after his frail health. Nigeria should be in the hands of a leader who shows no sign of physical or mental debilitation.

If this would serve as encouragement to do the right thing, I’d support giving Mr. Buhari a gift that he—like other former rulers of Nigeria—has not earned. I would propose that the Nigerian people continue to pick up his healthcare bills after his resignation. But acting President Osinbajo should begin, immediately, to outline a viable healthcare system for Nigerians. It should be designed for humans, a humane replacement for the current morass whereby Nigerians see hospitals as hopeless locations where they are condemned to suffer and die needlessly.

Nokia Plans to Rebrand the Classic 3310 Phone

Nokia 3310 cellphone, that beautiful brick everyone had in 2001 - could make a comeback after undergoing a re-invention, it has been revealed.

But what the new features are remains a mystery. The remake looks promising though, as Nokia has posted twice on Facebook in the last day, referring to the 3310.

It's rumoured the new 3310 will have the nearly indestructible build and epic battery life just like its ancestor, but with the brains of a modern smartphone.

They'll be sold for 59 euros (NZ$87), reports say. That's a small price to pay for fans of the original snake game.

Nokia struggled in the smartphone market and was eventually bought by Microsoft. Since then it has found a niche in making new versions of its old phones that were so popular in the cellphone revolution at the turn of the century.

Trump-Buhari Valentine Call and What Inference to Draw

Let's assume Trump spoke with Buhari yesterday as we were made to believe and let's assess his performance as commander in chief and someone Nigeria employed to take care of the nation.

1. Mr. President assured Nigerians during the campaign that no more foreign medical trips but as soon as he won the elections, the medical trips started.

2. The request for this particular vacation to the NASS was for 10 days but Mr. President was out of the country before the date requested. (What kind of example does that show other public officers)

3. Mr. Femi Adesina said Mr President is on vacation but will do medicals while on vacation and not otherwise.  He insisted he's hale and hearty. Let's believe him please.

4. Gov Amosun and Alh Atiku visited him in UK. Amosun was shown eating with Mr President and he appeared truly hale and hearty. Let's assume Amosun truly left his work in Ogun to go and jolly-jolly with the man on official vacation.

5. Mr President requested for indefinite extension of his vacation to confirm his medical tests. Let's assume it was a vacation and not medical trip?

6. Then it was Asiwaju Tinubu and Chief Akande's turn to mark register in London. Mr. President again in same vacation uniform was hale and hearty. Let's assume the report of Tinubu disclaiming the London trip was false.

7. Nigerians went to the Nigeria House in London to request for Mr President's address but no show. Let's assume he was in the House as earlier claimed by Presidency.

8. There was serious tension in the country due to the planned nationwide protest by TuFace, yet Mr. Femi Adesina said no one can force Mr. President to speak to Nigerians.

9. The Acting President insisted that Mr. President is hale and hearty. Let's believe him.

10. Then President Trump spoke with Nigeria President that's on medical vacation and Buhari demonstrated to Trump that he's truly hale and hearty.

My conclusion
It's either Muhammad Buhari has gone AWOL from Presidency; that is, he's fed up of being the President of Nigeria because the solutions are beyond him, so he ran away or his media team are just hiding the truth about Mr President, so that they can collect a few more salaries before being evicted from Aso Rock and they have unwittingly portrayed Buhari as the most irresponsible President Nigeria ever had. The President that's hale and hearty but refuses to attend to national issues, refuses to address his people but  remains in Oyinbo land eating, hosting guests and speaking with western leaders on phone.

APC goons, over to you; what a President you've given Nigerians?

... and by their fruits, we shall know them.

Good night friends.

Trump and Buhari Phone Call; Mixed Reactions

When news filtered in on Monday afternoon that the new American President Donald Trump will be speaking with our own president Buhari by 3:45pm local time and Zuma of South Africa at another time on the same day. The internet immediately went agog with a wide range of reactions of the possibility of the action taking place.

This is all due to the state of health of our Mr President. President Buhari who left the the shore of the country for medical vacation in the United Kingdom over his deteriorating illness which was supposed to be a 10 days leave but has spanned to 3 weeks now, but at some point the rumor mills reported he was dead, the President’s ill health is being shrouded in secrecy by the power cabal in Aso Rock, with no clear date to when the President will return back to the country.

Donald Trump who is well known for speaking to the world through his Twitter handle @RealDonaldTrump, however is yet to make any comment. Nigerians out of their curiosity, experience of Propaganda with Buhari and his media aides, were eager to see President Trump tweet about the phone call for confirmation but he never did.

However, different narratives and opinions have been floating around since the news came up from the SAs who maintained their stance that there was truly a conversation between the pair. Some sections are of the opinion that there were no phone conversations between the two, while some believed that the American Embassy didn't make any fuss about the phone conversation while others were of the disbelieve because the only source of the news was from the Buhari Media Center popularly known for huge propaganda.

Nigerians were surprised that not even the American Embassy hosted the information on their website or make any publicity about it. No big international media could confirm the news except few ones who relied on the information from the Buhari’s media Center.

Some even marvel at the procedures involved that since the president handed over power to the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo as acting president, the responsibility bestowed on him automatically grants him the right to receive the call from the American president.

Many others have also express their disappointment at the president that he can hurriedly speak with Trump yet he has has not deemed it fit to speak with his teeming country men with regard to his whereabout and state of health.

However the case may be, we wish him a safe return to his motherland.

Happy Valentine!

Donald Trump to Speak With President Buhari Today

The American president Donald Trump will today be making a scheduled phone call to the Nigerian and South African presidents.

This report is coming exclusively from Geoffrey York, an African correspondent for The Globe and Mail; who happens to be based in Johannesburg but travels around Africa.

According to him today is "African day" for Donald Trump and he will have phone conversations with president Buhari at around 3:45pm (Nigerian time) and around 5:10pm with president Jacob Zuma of South Africa.

He also emphasized the importance of the phone call for Nigerians and how fascinating the outcome will turn out to be as president Buhari has been absent on vacation for about 3 weeks already, mainly due to his state of health which has been clandestinely manoeuvred by his media aids.

That Andrew Yakubu by Charly Boy (AreaFada)

The other day, I was in the midst of those I thought were reasonable people - a small group of lawyers, engineers and realtors or real estate guys, and as usual, the topic of conversation was our dear country Nigeria. Then someone said, "Abegi President Buhari should bring back our corruption," and to my surprise, everyone was laughing. I missed the joke, but I could swear the speaker was expressing the sentiment of the people I was with who were engulfed in a mumu laughter.

Who in Nigeria wey go say him no know say corruption na 99% of our wahala? Abeg why e be say na so so mumu mumu people full dis country? How can anybody govern a people who celebrate corruption the way we do and then cry foul when the damage is done, as though they had no idea where it came from? Kai, weytin be our problem Sef!

Walahitalai, even Jesus cannot govern a country wey still dey celebrate a president who presided over nothing but the wanton pilfering of its resources. And some Mumu Nigerians go dey wish make him come back to power. Na wa o.

Most people for Naija dey Craze. We dey Sick. And many of us dey Mental. I am sure you must have heard/read about the former NNPC Boss, Andrew Yakubu, who typifies what is damaging the Nigerian brand. Of course there are many Yakubus in Nigeria, even in my village of Oguta. The evil in the hearts of these men and women who are mindless and mean is for sure the bedrock of our recession; unemployment; suffering; hunger and infrastructural decay as billions and trillions of our monies are often pocketed by political criminals.

In the space of two years, see how much of our looted money was recouped by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari:

$153 million = Diezani Allison Madueke;
$15 million = Patience Jonathan;
N4billion = NIMASA boss Patrick Akpobolokemi
Heartbreaking N1trillion = Ex-Service chiefs
N111million = INEC Staff
$9.8 million & £74,000 = Andrew Yakubu
4.7bn arms fund = Obanikoro/Fayose
N11.7 billion mansion built by Deziani in Banana Island, Lagos.
Haba! Haba!! Haba!!! Is this a stealing competition?

But Andrew Yakubu own vex me die. Look at the clandestine place that $9.8m and another £74, 000 was found! Who would have thought there was such magnitude of national treasure there? See ehn, this stunning discovery by the EFCC makes me wonder how a soulless criminal of Andrew Yakubu's ilk could have received $10million in cash as gift - as claimed by him - and how much gift would have been given to many other thieves, evil peoples and demons who had over the last decade, dotted our government. Oh... Where is my gun? I dey seriously feel like shooting somebody! In the end, common man go die by jungle justice ooo.

My people, I no dey fit sleep again. I no fit comprehend how a human being go thief him generation money come go church go do thanksgiving. The supposed Man of God who is his pastor is a bastard and that church is a fraud; in fact, the God to whom they pray sef Na LIE. Nigerians must rise up and in unison fight this corruption, because if we fail today, this our suffering no go end o... and many of us go die for nothing. Our failure as a country is our fault as a people. Andrew Yakubu dey for every family for Naija. You wan get money but you no wan work. Looking for miracles in churches and mosques. If we fail to work, we can only steal to survive and that is where the change must begin - with us all. A country where people spend more time on their knees more than they do on their job will not stand; a country where the mind of the people has been buried in the erroneous mentality of getting rich only by praying; daily spiritual diet; where men of God openly fraternize with certified and indicted thieves and drool over their loot - is  a country on its way to hell. My people, let us become a people who work so that we can collectively fight and fix this country. This madness of looters no go stop if our miracle-stricken mindset no change.

I hear say government dey give whistleblowers 5%, good. As the President of Frustrated Nigerians, I go ginger anybody wey know any government worker or politician wey dey hide money, for this our jungle. No fear, stand up because me go fight your fight. I am willing to provide further support for those who are afraid and I am willing to stand and fight to ensure that nobody go intimidate you - whether na the looters or agencies of government wey wan dey act funny. I cannot stand back and watch my country, my Naija, my home get looted to the point of monumental destructiveness while those who are capable of helping the government recover loots for the benefit of us all are intimidated by FEAR of DEATH. All man go die nonetheless and e fit be anytime.

I am prepared to lead a national revolution against corruption and in support of President Muhammadu Buhari's anti-corruption war. I will go to meet with the EFCC boss, the ICPC boss, the police boss and all those who are trying to give this country renewed hope. Very soon the voice of ordinary Nigerians will be so loud that the interest of the frustrated Nigerians will be a national priority. For decades, I have never heard thieves return so much money back to the system. And for this reason alone, I go clap small for President Muhammadu Buhari. As the President of All Frustrated Nigerians, I enjoin all of us to shine our eyes and act right so we no go take our hand decimate what is left of our land. This mindless stealing and looting is just too much. Na God go punish bad people.

Singer Joy Villa Wears a Pro-Trump Dress to the Grammy

American singer Joy Villa made her arrival for the Grammy Awards a political affair when she appeared in a gown bearing some of president Trump's campaign slogan.

Though she was not nominated for the grammy but she stole some headlines as a pro-Trump activist.

She also went straight to her Twitter page to express her feelings when tweeted "sometimes you gotta be free to express yourself. Thank you to all of my supporters..."

The navy blue dress reads "Make America Great Again" in the front, while its train reads "TRUMP"

Blue Ivy Dressed Like Prince and Not a Princess

The Grammy Awards 2017 had so many music stars in attendance but there was an image floating around online earlier that claimed Sean'Jay-z' Carter's daughter, Blue Ivy was dressed in a gold gown to the show.

No she wasn't! Blue Ivy actually dressed up like Prince in a ruffled top, pink blazer and sequined pants for the awards and she looked just as beautiful.

Turns out the earlier image below was fake.

Kenya Declares Drought a National Disaster, Calls For Help!

Kenya declared a national disaster on Friday, calling for aid to counter drought that is posing a major risk to people, livestock and wildlife.

The Kenya Red Cross has estimated around 2.7 million people are in need of food aid after low rainfall in October and November and the next rainy season not due before April.

President Uhuru Kenyatta called for “local and international partners to come in and support the government’s efforts to contain the situation,” a statement from his office said.

The U.N. World Food Programme said it was short of $22 million (18 million pounds) for the next six to nine months to provide support such as school meals for 428,000 children who often depend on them as their only substantial meal of the day.

The presidency did not set out how much the government needed for the drought, but said it had released 7.3 billion shillings ($70 million) and local authorities had provided another 2 billion. Out of Kenya’s 47 counties, 23 have been deemed to be facing disastrous drought.

“The government intends to enhance the interventions including doubling of food rations and cash transfers among other measures,” the presidency statement said.

Early this month, residents in drought-struck northern Kenya said at least 11 people were killed and a tourist lodge torched due to conflicts when armed cattle herders flooded onto farms and wildlife reserves.

"Sequel to the video clip of two soldiers maltreating a physically challenged man on the streets of Onitsha, Anambra State, last Tuesday, in line with our zero tolerance of infringement of human rights by troops, those involved! Corporal Bature Samuel and Corporal Abdulazeez Usman of 82 Provost Company, have been arrested, summarily tried based on 2 count charges and found guilty.

Consequently, both have been sentenced to reduction in rank; from Corporal to Private Soldiers and 21 days Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) respectively, which includes forfeiture of 21 days pay to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Nigerian Army has also reached out to the victim of their unjustifiable assault, Mr. Chijoke Uraku (alias CJ), as widely reported by the media.

We wish to reiterate our avowed determination to ensure that troops conduct themselves in the most orderly and professional manner at all times. Any act of indiscipline would not be tolerated".

President Buhari in a Coma?

A Twitter user named Deriano Agada, has claimed that his brother who works at a London hospital, supposedly the one where the president is being administered, said the President is in a coma, as he had an unsuccessful surgery.

He says doctors have advised PMB to resign from his work and attend to his health – this may further be an evidence that the president is not dead.

Nigerian Army Charged With Assault in Onitsha

Recent reports confirmed that two Nigerian soldiers have been arrested and charged with assault of a disabled man. They were filmed beating the said man with sticks in a busy street of Onitsha in Anambra State on Tuesday.

The reason for the beating appeared to be because the man was wearing a camouflage shirt.

Report also has it that the soldiers had been charged "in line with our zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline".

Human rights groups have persistently accused Nigeria's military of abuses against civilians, especially in north-east Nigeria, where it has been fighting a long-running insurgency by militant Islamist group Boko Haram.

Wearing camouflage clothing is a sensitive issue in Nigeria because militants and criminals have often worn camouflage clothing either to carry out attacks or impersonate soldiers for other criminal purposes.

Section 110 of the Nigerian criminal code says it is an offence to unlawfully wear uniform of the armed forces or dress "having the appearance... of such uniforms".

Buhari Being Transferred To Saint Josef Hospital, Germany

According to wailersng, president Mohammadu Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is presently being planned to be transferred to Saint Josef hospital Wiesbaden Germany.

President Buhari who is battling with an undisclosed ailment, left Nigeria for UK on the 26th of January 2017 and with an intent to return on Monday February 6th. His return has been extended till further notice in a letter transmitted to the Nigerian Senate. Buhari’s first leave letter empowered the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to take over as the Acting President.

After a serious protest embarked on by Nigerians at the UK Embassy last week demanding a 5 minutes speech from President Buhari, it seems the Aso Rock cabal who prefers to cut Nigerians off from knowing the real health status of Mr. President has taken a further step. Buhari was removed from Princess Grace Hospital in United Kingdom to retire at the Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s private residence in London on monday evening.

WAILERSNG also informed further that, preparations are now in top gear to take Buhari out of the United Kingdom to another Hospital in Germany, Saint Josef hospital Wiesbaden Germany.
Nigerians are kept in the dark concerning Buhari’s health, even the media aides are not helping matters because, it seems they don’t have genuine information on what has happened and is happening to their principal since many of them are now in the business of giving different and conflicting report to the media to cover up the situation and that has left Nigerians wondering.

Boko Haram Is Broke

The United Nations has claimed that Boko Haram is currently facing financial problems. This was made known through the secretary-general for political affairs, Jeffrey Feltman.

Mr Feltman stated this on Tuesday while briefing the security council on the UN secretary-general’s fourth report, on the threat the insurgent group posed to international peace.

He stated thus that “ISIL-affiliate Boko Haram is attempting to spread its influence and commit terrorist acts beyond Nigeria.”

“And Boko Haram remains a serious threat, with several thousand fighters at its disposal.

“It is, however, plagued by financial difficulties and an internal power struggle, and has split in two factions”, he added.

Vladmir Putin Signs Law Decriminalizing Domestic Violence

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday signed a new law reducing some penalties for domestic violence, a move which has triggered women's rights campaigners who fear it will encourage abuse.
The law reduces battery of a relative to a civil offence instead of a criminal one in first instances, when the victim suffered no serious harm.
Those who support new legislation, including members of Putin's United Russia party, say they want to protect parents' right to discipline their children and to reduce the state's ability to meddle in family life.
They say anyone who inflicts serious physical harm will still be criminally liable.
But critics say the move is a step backwards which will exonerate 'tyrants in the home' and discourage victims from reporting abuse.
Each year, about 14,000 women die in Russia at the hands of husbands or other relatives, according to a 2010 United Nations report.

Some Pictures From Today's Protest In Ibadan

In lieu of massive protest initially planned to be led by the popular African Queen music crooner, Innocent '2face' Idibia, which he later opted out, due to what he called personal reasons.

The protest went on eventually as planned, though it didn't unleash the massive crowd that would have shaken and zap confidence and morale out of the present government. But it was observed nonetheless!

Here are some pictures of the #IStandWithNigeria protest in Ibadan

Angolan President Plans to Step Down After 38 Years

Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, Africa's second-longest serving leader, has confirmed he will not run in this year's presidential election, calling an end to 38 years as head of state, but he will retain control of the powerful ruling party.
Dos Santos, aged 74, said in March last year he would not run in elections due in August 2017 but opponents remained suspicious given he had reneged on similar pledges during in the past.

The ruling People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) approved 62-year-old Defence Minister Joao Lourenco as its presidential candidate at a meeting on December 2, dos Santos said in a televised speech on Friday.

Dos Santos will remain president of the MPLA, retaining sweeping powers that include choosing parliamentary candidates and appointing top posts in the army and police.

Harvard Law Review Elects A Nigerian Woman As President

A Nigerian, ImeIme Umana, has made history as the first black woman president of the Harvard Law Review, a prestigious legal journal in the United States.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama was the first black to be elected president of the Harvard Review in 1990.

Ms. Umana, who is of Nigerian descent, but hails from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the United States, has become the 131st leader of the organization

The job is considered the highest student position at Harvard Law School.

As Harvard Law Review president, Ms.Umana will oversee more than the 90 student editors and permanent staff members who make up the Law Review and communicate with writers, including senior faculty members.

As a Harvard undergraduate in Lowell House, Ms. Umana earned a joint concentration in government and African American studies and served as the president of the Institute of Politics.

According to a Harvard Crimson report, the outgoing president of the Law Review, Michael L. Zuckerman, wrote in an email that he was excited to see where Ms. Umana will take the publication in the coming year.

“ImeIme is one of the most brilliant, thoughtful, and caring people I’ve ever met, and the Law Review is in phenomenally good hands,” Mr. Zuckerman said

Donald Trump and the Executive Orders

Donald Trump, a man who no doubt enjoys making the headlines for being the bad guy, a reputation preceding his political escapades since his party elections campaign begun in earnest. He played the outsider, the man with the misguided utterances, the man to share the views of some selected citizens of America or the bad guy in a popular American blockbuster movie.

He played to his premeditated script and articulated speeches with wreckless abandon earmarked with so much divisive comments which eventually brought upon him and team a landmark victory against the much popular and medially caressed democratic party.

There is no gainsaying that this method brought upon him an historic victory and engraved his reputation into the history book as the new president of the United States of America.

According to the new Forbes rating, he has raked in majority disapproval ratings in the shortest possible time (8 days), largely due to him meeting up with his election promises.

However, it does not cease to amaze me how after amassing such monumental number of votes against the much adored Democratic party candidate, Hilary Clinton, that the people somehow expect him to deviate or abandon his promises. Its not done that way.

Trump way is the new way!

So many crowd gatherings and protests against his policies and orders. But who didn't see this coming. This is not intended as a Pro-Trump article but to reverberate the voice of Eleanor Roosevelt that "the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility" and the great people of America should see it this way.

Perhaps, they are identifying with who they voted for in the last election or they are merely playing it too emotional, but they are barely reaping the fruit of their labour and this is the sad truth.

His policies are only a manifestation of his election promises which the majority of the people of America voted for. He is merely playing to the script the people endorsed by their franchise.

Nonetheless, they are some facts that must be lay bare:

His policies are not anti-Islam and neither is this the first time an American president is placing restrictions against immigrants. In fact it is on record that former president Barack Obama deported more immigrants than any other American president, also in 2011, he placed a ban on the Iraqis from coming to America for six months yet there were no traces of protests or campaign against his policy.

During Donald Trump campaign he promised extreme vetting for some country members and yet it took the Americans by surprise when he met with his promise. As a measure of security for the American people, he placed ban on refugees and immigrants for a few months.

These measures were solely not his efforts, because the 7 countries marked for complete ban were already deemed "countries of concern" for terrorism by the Barack Obama administration hence were already on restrictions for certain travelers. It leaves little to be desired when people just jump to conclusion that its an anti-muslim policy.

Furthermore, the nations with the highest number of Muslims are not even included, hence the disconnection of facts.

America needed a new stance with immigrants and if Trump has placed embargo for 3months, for God's sake let's chill and see how it turns out, instead of making protest and delaying policies aimed at protecting lives and upholding national image.

Chicago is worst hit by insecurity and murder. Since 2011, they can solely account for over 8,000 murder cases alone.
Where he lacks with the utterances of a statesman, he complements with business acumen as a businessman, who is saddled with the huge civil responsibility of taking high risk decisions for the protection of his people.

Its a common practice globally to place ban on immigrants from selected countries. The UAE do not allow immigrants from Israel into their entire sovereignty, Saudi Arabia do not open it borders for Syrian refugees. Different countries with their varying immigration policies.

But when its Donald Trump regime as POTUS everybody becomes an activist, everybody becomes a victim of airport delays, health risk and all sorts.
I can only implore the great people of America to support their chosen mandate as he embark on a mission to make America great again.

A Nigerian University Discovers Cure For HIV/AIDS

The Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof. Francis Otunta has confirmed the news on the discovery of a new drug for the treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS.

He confirmed the breakthrough was made by Prof. Maduike Ezeibe, a researcher in the university. Ezeibe who had earlier presented the drug to the University management, Senate and Council, where he explained the processes he went through to arrive at his finding.

The VC also said that Ezeibe had equally presented the drug to his colleagues in the medical field and nobody had contradicted his finding. “Prof. Ezeibe is a researcher in Veterinary Medicine and one may wonder how he discovered a drug to cure a human ailment,” he said. He commended Ezeibe for the breakthrough, saying: “He has brought honour to the University and we are proud of him.”

Otunta said that the university was in the process of mass producing the drug for further clinical trials on persons living with HIV/AIDS in the country. Ezeibe, who is a professor of Veterinary Medicine and Clinical Virology, said that the drug was produced with Aluminum Silicate and Magnesium Silicate (Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate). He said that the two minerals “are already in use as medicines for the treatment of various animal and human diseases”.

He said that 10 persons living with the disease, “who volunteered’’, were made to apply through their doctor to the VC. “They were treated daily with the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate (50 mg/kg),” he said. Ezeibe said that the volunteers were subjected to monthly tests for viral loads and CD4-lymphocyte counts. “With the antiviral effects of the medicine, its ability to reach all cells (as nanoparticles) and the lymphocytes, there is no more hiding place (sanctuary) for HIV,” he said.

He said that the medicine had been used to potentiate Ampicilin, Chloroquine, Piperazine and Sulphadimidin, among others, and could be a major foreign exchange earner for Nigeria, if approved by relevant authorities. According to him, “local and international pharmaceutical companies would find the product as a veritable raw material”.

Ezeibe said that he presented the research findings to the World Virology Conference in Atlanta in 2015, and Antonio (Texas) in 2016. Besides, he said that the results of the laboratory tests had been published in many international scientific journals, including the British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, among several others. He said that he was also about to sign a memorandum of understanding with a U.S.-based Scientific Research Publishing, publishers of World Journal of AIDS, for the publication of his book “How I came about the cure for HIV/AIDS”.

Morroco Rejoins African Union

The African recently readmitted The Kingdom of Morroco into the continental body since about 33 years it pulled out.

The North African kingdom quit the African Union predecessor, the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), in 10)984 amid a dispute over the body's recognition of Western Sahara, most of which has been controlled by Morroco since 1976.

In 2014, Morroco rejected the AU's decision to appoint a special envoy for the Western Sahara, saying the body has no legal authority to intervene.

However, King Mohammed VI has been making diplomatic efforts over the last year to try to win Rabat's readmission.

Meanwhile, the Morroco leader addressed the continental body on Tuesday for the first time since his country was re-admitted.

King Mohammed VI said the kingdom's readmission is not intended to divide it, but to benefit Africa.

"Africa is my home and I am coming back home," King Mohammed said, to applause from other heads of state. "I have missed you all."

Terrorism Against Islam

Terrorism Against Islam!
As ironically as it sounds, it is nutmegged in the present reality of the day. It goes a long way to contradict the popular opinion of the people on terrorism and it needs some moment of clarity, rehabilitation and gradual sensitization before people can re-identify with terrorism as a non Islamic sect.

The reality of this melodrama is gradually dawning on the Islamic critics turn cynics who bask on the euphoria of ignorantly criticizing the religious and ascribing it with terrorism or succintly put, how else do you identify with the recent trend of bombings and sporadical gun shooting in mosques and Islamic communities.

Only this morning, we woke up to the sad news of a bombing of a mosque in Maiduguri. The incident took place in the wee hour of the morning at Dalori quarter in a mosque opposite the University of Maiduguri when the Muslim faithfuls were observing their morning prayers.

Sad as it may, the tragic incident which entirely contradicts the porous minds of the non conformists who believe Islam and terrorism are synonymous and it will hence go a long to advocate the selfless services of the United Nations, African Union, European Union et al, at making sure there is even a stronger awareness campaign against global terrorism and it delineation from Islam as a religious.

In another related incident, this time in Canada, they was a mosque shooting at Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center during the evening prayers on sunday by some terrorist gang who ended up killing about 6 people leaving many scathed and breathing on life support.

The fight against terrorism is by no mean a fight against an Islamic sect but a fight against the misguided group who believe in cold blood murder as a mean to drive their opinion or belief to the world at large. Some  of their leaders cannot even recite a verse in the Quran.

Sadly, people like this still exist and they propel their interest by adopting this evil and uncivil act of savagery, thereby bringing fear and vulnerability upon the people.

Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau comments also deserves some mentioning here, where he was directly speaking to the over 1 million Muslims living in his country that "We are with you". He went further to say "Thirty-six million hearts are breaking with yours, know that we value you".

If national leaders, religious principals, heads of monarchs and the rest of us can unite and shower such passionate thought across to victims of this ungodly incidents, then I see the world truly uniting to counter global terrorism.

Until then, may God help us!

Barrow Removes Islamic From The Gambia’s Official Name

New president of The Gambia, Adams Barrow has changed the official name of the country from 'Islamic Republic of The Gambia' to 'Republic of The Gambia'.

If you recall on Dec 12, 2015 that former president Yahya Jammeh declared country an Islamic state.

More recently, new The Gambian president Adana Barrow has removed Islamic from the country's name which he says is a republic not Islamic republic as alleged by the immediate past president Yahya Jammeh.

The new president said The Gambia, whose population is 90% Muslim, with the rest Christian and animist, was a republic "not the Islamic republic".

Random Thoughts: Economic Importance of Mosquitoes

On this very day with my random thought garb on. I wandered round and took a screeching halt at the mosquito door step.

Here was my thought:

What are the positive economic importance of mosquitoes (sef)?

I began to wonder what exactly they were, definitely there has to be some, else, we would be confabulating wiping them out thoroughly out of the face of the earth. Extinction!

Like the scientists will spell it out, the first thing to do is to discover the problem, which I have done. Now I did some little guess work myself before I researched further on the topic.

As a pointer, I'm not here to deliberate on their damaging role as vectors and transmitters of malaria infections. But I must also bring to your notice that in an area where there are no disease or infected person, mosquitoes cannot harm anybody as they can not transmit any harmful disease to anybody.

As part of their useful role;

*The larvae of mosquitoes live in water and provide food for fish and other wildlife, including larger larvae of other species such as dragonflies.

*The larvae themselves eat microscopic organic matter in the water, helping to recycle it.

*Adult mosquitoes make up part of the diet of some insect-eating animals, such as birds, bats, adult dragonflies and spiders.

*They also help pollinate some flowers, when they consume nectar.

These reasons explains why we will never have any agitation for ridding them out for extinction or any international agency being set up for their complete eradication.

Sadly, in as much as they cause so many havoc as regards health hazards and death to the environment in terms of spread of diseases, they are equally of great importance to you and I.

My conclusion!

Picture Of Buhari With Amosun Online Is Fake?

Again the state of health of President Mohammadu Buhari is the topic and this time it is The Nigerian Wailers with the Twitter handle @NGRWailer who have come to debunk the originality of yesterday's trending picture of the president with Senator Diasy Danjuma and Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.

This picture was released on Friday few moments from when the earlier picture was released. It shows the president with the same attire but this time with Atiku Abubakar and claiming that it was a picture of the last time he was sick.

Surely the state of health of the president Mohammadu Buhari is still the topic presently taking different turns at different hour.

If you would recall that there are some ongoing rumour of his health being at a critical stage, some are even reporting of his death.

But the President Buhari who is in the UK on a 10 days vacation, from where he would undergo a medical check-up as reported by the president before his departure, is yet to put the minds of his beloved citizens at rest.

LAUTECH Yet To Resume?

New report filtering in reveals that the students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso may have resumed for their academic studies like we earlier reported here but they are no signs or communications between them and the teaching staff.

It is reported that the lecturers have vowed not to resume for classes even if the students resume.

“The truth is that there have been no efforts to ensure that we resume; students who have resumed are only here to play and really we will not resume until our demands are met,” he said. “We have said until our demands are met, we will not resume and that is what we are doing today.”

The chairman of ASUU, LAUTECH Chapter, Biodun Olaniran, was said to have issued some statements which reinforced the stance of the lectures not to resumes until their demands are met thoroughly.

He said “If the students stay in school for one or two weeks, I don’t know what they will be doing, until we get a directive from our national body after our demands have been met, we remain on strike.”

“We have received just one month with a promise to pay the remaining one month today or tomorrow,” Mr. Olaniran said. “Our demand is not about salary, even if we receive the alert , we will not call off the strike.”

We hope this issue is being resolved and put to rest on time, to alleviate fears that may arise from noncompliance with the authority.
