The Creation of a New America

Donald Trump fears no foe! He's been there, done that! He has been vilified, underestimated and each time, i suppose, he has proved cynics wrong. But here he is, changing completely the rhythm and melody of the tunes in his much anticipated grasp at the helms of the American government, albeit not certainly expecting - no less - a celebrated public view of him.

In all fairness, running a government, especially the United States of America is no ball games or grand-business as usual. Yet the elected president of America is going to do it - his way and doing it particular 'his way' promises so much from like the preelection times, yet he's not a man known for running away from taking risks.

At the time of writing this article, the President elect has chosen about 21 members of cabinet and advisers to be his political juggernaut when he assumes the oval office come January, 2017. He's rather unrelenting about his preelection overview of a corrupt democratic government of the previous dispensation hence the need for a complete overhaul with different background - American top business bosses (like-minds).

Already at this point, views are trooping in and a balance of erudite and experienced opinion can't be purged out of sight especially when carefully harnessed into a projection and debatable forum of conceptions. Some say Donald Trump is building a cabinet in his own image: blunt-talkers with real-world experience. Others assert that "experience is key to running a government". While many on the other hands will agree no less that making America great will be his top priority, however way he comes about that is the crux of the fear of world at large.

Like many will argue, the high-level corporate experience in his cabinets are used to having to please shareholders, board members, employees and the community. Now decision making will most certainly supersede such limited capacity they are known for and any wreckless decisions and/or unreserved remarks might shift balance from the usual white house practice thus resulting in imbalances and may be eventual loss of job.

However way we juxtapose our varying conceptions, Donald Trump is the Chief Pilot and we are practically going to play the card - the trump card - his way.

MMM, Ethical Investment and a Nation in Precipice

Trust Nigerians for their gift of disparaging anything that does not involve them directly. The attitude of "See them gnashing teeth" is a common place here where instrument of perfection is what favours only me against them. So, though not a member of the ponzi scheme, I can't dance "yaginiyodo for seeing a fellow Nigerian in the lurch". Even if MMM is an unethical investment, the big question waiting for an answer is what is ethical investment when the only option is survival war. Remember, values become secondary when struggling for survival is acute.

It is always difficult to define what an ethical investment is, in as much, as there is no absolutism in morality.  So, we can only look into MMM issue within the periscope of moral philosophy and Ethical relativism.

Simple logic, it is that you can only have an opposite when there is a word. Tell me which ethical business investment has the Government at all levels in Nigeria provide before we can call MMM unethical ?

WHEN there was campaign against some products in the UK, there was establishment of Ethical investment Fund . It excluded Tobacco, Arms, Alcohol and investment related to oppressive regimes from its products.  That's providing a good riddance to a bad rubbish. Here we rail, cavil and nag without providing an exit door.

Ethical investing also known as Socially Responsible Investing incorporates environmental and social factors as well as competitive returns. So, tell me one Bank in  Nigeria or other "Ethical business undertaking that will plough back as much as 30 percent gain in a month. Yet, we spare no rod to slam MMM for whose timely intervention some tables would have been denied of dinner.

MMM is not a camouflage.  It states all its conditions of engagement and even provides a clincher that "don't invest more than you can afford to  lose". But will an hungry man check the colour of a plate used to serve him a free meal ?

Before we yank  Ethics off MMM, let's ask for alternative Ethical investment from our government.  I can assure you that majority of those Nigerians  Sun bathing in MMM are not unaware that morning sun never lasts the day. But do dey have another option?

Ondo Election as a yardstick for Oyo states'

Looking at my timeline these past few days, i still see many of our youths practicing a recurrent approach to the issue of governance but somehow expecting a different result. I can't seem to be able to conceive how in the world that is going to be possible. The youths are as ever witless and not to harp on but the system is completely warped and incongruent. It just doesn't add up.

Sequence to the results of the Ondo State elections, many youths can be seen deliberating on their preferred candidate for Oyo state 2019 without exhaling the economic relevance attached to their very much revered candidate. Don't just throw up names into thin air, give me reasons to vote for your candidate. It won't trade our votes for peanuts at this pressing times.

Just last month BudgIT released a statement on the economic situations of Oyo state, believe me we need only qualified hands at the helm of affairs. Candidates who understands the abnormal and unpredictable trend of the market value financially and economically. Candidates who understand exactly how the system works. Candidates who won't make light of an utopian dream merely to win over my endorsement

"Oyo State's average recurrent expenditure at N7.7bn (2016) is high and drastic action needs to be taken to correct the abnormalities, given that her average monthly revenue is approximately N4.2bn. This can barely settle
personnel costs with nothing left for capital investment. Oyo needs strategic thinkers to position it as a hub to Lagos, a city 120km away from her capital." - BudgetIT

You will agree with me that on this basis, we simply need to dig deep into our artifacts to hold steadfast our treasured values and prized inheritance. We need to return Oyo state to its glorious days as the premier hub and pacesetter state of the nation. This however, does not revolve around debauched practices, vainglorious ethos, insensitive analysis of pivotal issues that relates to us, profligacy and nepotism.

It's okay to come on SM and start crooning names who will be of low benefit to our people but to whose detriment, posterity of course. Oyo state will do nothing of Ondo's style, we won't sell our birthrights, no we won't trade our votes for peanuts. Let's rally for a unified movement.

No disrespect to anybody's mandate but when a group of people sell their votes to a candidate, those group of people have no right to demand anything productive from the candidate. Everything is now bloated and inverse, welfarism no longer the cornerstone of the government's programmes, now they wage war on the poor and no longer against poverty.

Deserving of Oyo states are candidates who will have the will of the people at heart. I've rallied round but there exist not many I can call to meet this near impossible dream of returning Oyo state to the coveted status of the envied amongst states.

If you have an opinion lay it bare
